You Are 34% American
America: You don't love it or want to leave it.
But you wouldn't mind giving it an extreme make over.
On the 4th of July, you'll fly a freak flag instead...
And give Uncle Sam a sucker punch!

I thought that I'd look into last year's 4th of July post to give a "then and now" look because I was still with Mikey and he came over last year to celebrate at my house; however, I had forgotten about this. I just thought I'd link it because I am so glad that Terry and I have a relationship that is still getting stronger and stronger. By the way, Terry, forget about that call earlier today. We'll talk.

Today was the first day of my summer workout. I got this fatty packet from my lacrosse coach. I have to do three short/sprint runs, two distance runs, and three days in the gym per week. Thank god I have my dad, a former college athlete, to help me out. It was great to go to the MAC today because there were about three other people there. I'm all about being at the MAC as absolute little time as possible. Today was also the end of my dad's lifting season, so it was kind of cool to start mine as he ends his. He lifts from October to July to prep for the cycling competitions in July and August. This is what he does (for right now at least). Recently he's done master's track, played pickup soccer with the local Brazilians, etc. but for the past few years he's been into cycling. He's got the absolute craziest calves in the world. They actually scare me. My dad is the coolest.

Dross came over to celebrate the 4th with us. I think that there's only been one summer out of my 18 that I haven't spent with my parents on my deck watching the Oaks Park fireworks. We've got the most perfect view. I'll have to see if any of the pictures that Dross and I took came out, but I doubt that they will amount to anything. It's incredible to see the huge fireworks right in front of you with another huge display downriver and lights flashing along the ridges of the hills. It was weird not having Cal here, though. We used to have typed schedules for what fireworks were going to go off at what time. He's in Sacramento right now at a fencing tournament. I kind of miss him.

Weird, I talk about how I'm glad that Terry Li and I are good friends again and ten minutes later he shows up at my house. We just talked for an hour in my living room. Another thing to add to my list of summer highlights: random visits from friends at midnight. I've had such a crazy past with him, yet he's still one of my closest, most trustworthy and always caring friends. What a kid, that Terry Li. A real friend.

I'm tired and I promised myself that I'd get up at 9 tomorrow so that I could get my sprints done early and then tan for the rest of the day until I have to pick up Cal at the airport. It's been a good day.
